Why this section exists
Every chapter on this site ends with the next experiment. This section starts on the other side of it.
Suppose the ground-state rule is honoured and a device still closes its ledger. Suppose a metric can be nudged on a bench and then in a hull. What follows is not one product. It is a change in the price of the two things every civilisation has always paid for: energy and distance.
The pages below trace that change domain by domain. Each one names the capability it assumes, follows the first-order effects into the second and third, spends a day in that world, and then turns back to face the laboratory: what it would take, what to build in from the start, and what to watch for now.
