Edward Teo works out the general form of a stationary, axially symmetric traversable wormhole, extending earlier work that had assumed a static, non-rotating throat. This gives an explicit class of rotating wormholes that generalise the static, spherical ones of Morris and Thorne. Traversable wormholes are, by definition, those that allow two-way travel for objects such as human beings. Such a wormhole generically violates the null energy condition at its throat, as its static counterparts do. For suitable models, some geodesics pass through without meeting any energy-condition-violating matter, and an ergoregion may surround the throat.
