Tadahiko Mizuno builds on reports that excess heat in nickel-hydrogen systems depends on an extremely clean system. He minimised impurities by carefully cleaning the electrode and making nanoparticles inside the test system without exposure to air, using deuterium gas. Energy far above the input was produced continuously, at best double the electrical input and several hundred watts. Output rises exponentially with temperature, reaching 1 kW at a reactor temperature of 300 °C, and higher temperatures are expected to raise it further. An improved electrode preparation, described in the appendix, raised both reproducibility and excess heat.
