Alabin, Andreev, Sobolev, Zabavin, Parkhomov and Timerbulatov analyse the isotopes and elements in fuel and nearby material from nickel-hydrogen reactors, before and after runs with up to 790 MJ of excess energy. In such reactors the excess heat far exceeds what chemistry allows and is comparable to nuclear energy release, without harmful radiation or radioactivity. Four reactors of different designs, with excess energy from 100 to 790 MJ, were examined, including the substance accumulating in the reactor cavity. Nickel and lithium isotopes showed no significant change, except in the fuel analysis of the AP2 reactor at Uppsala University in Sweden. Concentrations of several impurity nuclides rose significantly, both in the fuel and in structural parts next to the active zones.
