Forsley, Mosier-Boss and Benyo present lattice confinement fusion, the fusion of hydrogen isotopes into helium without tokamak magnets or laser power supplies. The nuclear fuel is confined and triggered within the lattice, and the nuclear reactions are enhanced by electron screening. They describe the process as locally hot but globally cold, and note that NASA published results in Physical Review C. In the hybrid fast-fission reaction, fusion neutrons fission uranium, spent fuel rods or thorium, which the authors present as cleaner fission with no enriched uranium.
