Tanzella, Godes, Liu and George report calorimetry on Brillouin Energy's catalyst tubes, ceramic tubes coated with metal, ceramic and copper layers, run in hydrogen with nanosecond pulses across the coatings. The Energy Research Center has verified this calorimetry for over 5 years, across more than 2000 runs on more than 300 catalyst tubes. A new reactor system uses only mass flow calorimetry, making it easier to see when output exceeds input. Running in hydrogen between 200 and 600 °C, several runs gave total output power above the electrical input power. The outer nickel layer's temperature is estimated from its resistance, and plans for even better calorimeters are laid out.
